A French guy has left his native village for obscure family reasons and has been living in New York ever since with a girl he doesn't love. He earns a living as a waiter in a restaurant. One day, he witnesses the leader of a gangster gang killing several people. Fearing that the man will recognize him, he decides to return to France. But the criminal orders one of his accomplices to pursue and kill him.
