Lis is a teenage girl who wants to become a circus artist and leave her native village. However, she knows that a bitter confrontation with her parents will ensue. It is summer and Lis spends her days in the village streets with her friends and her boyfriend named Nestor. The lack of privacy and endless gossip forces Lis to keep her relationship with Nestor a secret.

This is nothing special, I thought, and the voters here aren't exactly enthusiastic either. But it wasn't too bad. You do have to persevere, though, and get past that group of giggling, loitering, and bored schoolgirls. Fifteen-year-old Lis has to navigate her uncomprehending father, her anxious mother, her demanding boyfriend, and a group of friends who are also of little use to her. Along the way, she sees all her dreams shattered. Okay, it's a coming-of-age story like so many others, but the fate of this girl and her worries still leave you deeply moved. Who said childhood is the best time? Well, imagine being with parents like that and a creepy boyfriend who's only interested in his own pleasure. I just had to make do with the inadequate English subtitles. But this film can't do anything about that.
