La Désirade plot

Claude is a young crook who has just committed a very lucrative heist. He flees with Nenette, together they want to settle on a small island "La Désiderade". In Havre, Claude falls in love with his friend Raymond's wife, while Nenette falls in love with Commissioner Bertaux. Raymond is very jealous and considers handing Claude over to the police.
