La Balia plot
Rome, early 20th century. The birth of a son has not brought the expected joy in the house of the psychiatrist Professor Mori. His wife Vittoria has an aversion to the child, who refuses to drink from her. Mori has no choice but to find a nurse. In the poor villages around Rome, many young mothers are willing to take on this task. In the end, Mori's choice falls on Annetta, whose husband is in prison for revolutionary activities. The baby is blossoming thanks to Annetta's heartfelt care.
