L'Oeil de l'Autre plot

A young photographer is hired by the French Ministry of Nature and Environment to take a series of photos of the Alpine landscape of Haute Provence. She replaces the renowned English photographer Peter Holm, who started the project seven years earlier but suddenly disappeared, without anyone knowing why or where to. Alice has to take the exact same pictures as him, on the same day, at the same time and from the same location: a form of landscape conservation. She sees herself more as a technician than a photographer, but slowly she begins to see her surroundings - through the lens - with different eyes. In her predecessor's photos, she discovers small details that arouse curiosity about the missing Holm. One of those details leads her to Juliet, the photographer's mistress. Just like the beautiful landscape she (re)photographs, Alice undergoes a change. At first she is shy and stubborn, refusing to look outside the box. But faced with the gaze of an old man, Alice takes an interest in the noisy other guests at her hotel.
