L'Arminuta plot
Italy, summer 1975. A thirteen-year-old girl unwittingly returns to her biological family she never knew. Suddenly she loses everything from her previous life: a comfortable house and the exclusive attention she received as an only child from her adoptive parents. Her new home is small and dark. Surrounded by emphatically present brothers, she struggles with her new life, as well as with her feelings of abandonment. But luckily there is Adriana, her sister with whom she shares a bed. And there's Vincenzo looking at her like she's already a woman.

Understated drama about a young teenager who grew up with wealthy adoptive parents in the city. From one day to the next she is sent back to her biological parents, a poor farming family in a mountainous area (Abruzzo). The shock and subsequent despair are great. Little Carlotta De Leonardis steals the show as the younger sister. Vanessa Scalera (the biological mother) occasionally gave me chills. The film came across to me as a mirror image of the beautiful Gaelic film An Cailín Ciúin [aka: The Quiet Girl] (Ireland, 2022) .
