Komm mit Mir nach Chicago plot

17-year-old Anja is an apprentice waiter in the station restaurant of a small town. On her way to a competition, she meets Helmuth, a few years her senior, who impresses her. Because Anja considers herself and her life completely unimportant, she gives free rein to her imagination. She poses as a novice on her way to a jungle hospital mission in Africa. In Helmuth she thinks she sees a gangster à la Al Capone. They both seek adventure and continue to role-play until they discover they like themselves just the way they are.
