Kazoku plot
Miner Seiichi Kazami leaves with his wife Tamiko, his two small children and his old father Genzo from the southern Japanese island of Kyushu to the barren northern island of Hokkaido to start a dairy farm there. Tamiko doesn't like the trip, but agrees anyway. The journey through Nagasaki, Osaka and Tokyo will be one with ups and downs.
