Kavi Kalidas plot
Kali is a young man of good descent, but is naive and slow-witted. He is a Brahmin and lives with his stepmother and her son. He is in love with Pushpavali, but she is of less good descent. Kali's mother is not very happy about this and before he knows it he is on the street. The villagers also show no sympathy for Kali and the two decide to leave the village. Princess Vidyotma hears Pushpavali sing and asks her to become a maid in her palace. Vidyotma is not married and will only marry a man more intelligent than she is, but no man seems to match her. A wise man decides to put an end to her arrogance and asks the naive Kali to go with him to the princess. He agrees and with the help of the wise man defeats her. The princess marries Kali, but is stunned to learn that Kali is slow-witted and can't even read. He is humiliated by the princess and decides to change this. His true love is still Pushpavali, but he knows that the princess will not let him go for someone like her.
