Kalt Ist der Abendhauch plot

For most of her life, Charlotte has been waiting for her true one, Hugo, their sister's husband. Charlotte lives her own life and survives the war, marriage, her lover and is the mother of three children. At the end of her life, when she is well past 80, she meets her true love again and it will become clear whether the long wait has been worthwhile.
