Junges Licht plot

The Ruhr in the 1960s. Twelve-year-old Julian lives in a mining family. The son of a miner, he experiences firsthand the years of the German economic miracle of the post-war period and hopes to one day pursue his father's profession himself. In the summer of 1961, the dull life of the teenagers consists mainly of boredom and aggression. They drink, smoke or abuse animals and sometimes work as an altar boy on Sundays. But Julian's mother is tired of this life and leaves for the sea with her daughter Sophie, leaving father and son alone in the mining settlement. It won't be long now before the already scarce money runs out...
