Journalist and TV star Joshua Shapiro looks back on his life in a melancholic mood. As the son of a petty thief and a bar dancer, the street was his school. Later he moved to London where he became a journalist. There he met Pauline, the daughter of a wealthy aristocrat. Their marriage brought Joshua into the upper class.
