A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash plot

Crude oil, the natural fuel on which our entire Western industry is based, is becoming scarce. The point where demand will exceed supply, Peak Oil, is getting closer, the days of abundant dirt cheap fuel are a thing of the past. Ethical and religious wars are waged to safeguard economic interests and to maintain frenzied control over what remains. To make matters worse, booming economic powers such as India and China need more and more oil. We urgently need to work on research into alternative energy sources and, since these alternatives will never completely replace oil, we must drastically change our lifestyle. Using archival footage from previous decades when oil was the new panacea, current footage and interviews with scientists, oil producers, political and economic observers, the film paints an alarming picture of dwindling oil reserves and its impact on our daily lives.
