It is clear that the best part of the film is to be found in the portrayals of Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek as parents overcome by grief and impotence. In fact, the first part of the film was quite tame, without any excitement. In the second part that is better, but, as said, the emphasis is extensively on the emotions in the roles of Wilkinson and Spacek, which by the way did well.

Definitely not impressive at all.

Strange title but "in the bedroom" indicates a place in the net of the lobster catchers, a place where there is no way out for these animals.

Another unusual and slow drama film by Todd Field. I had seen Little Children from the same director before. This is the most dramatic thing that can happen to a parent: losing your child...... Extra bitter because Frank was their only child! I would have liked to have seen the grief of the parents much more raw, I would have liked to feel despair, but unfortunately that did not happen. Then the movie would have been better. Their reaction after the bail is understandable, but ethically unjustifiable. I can still remember what our social teacher taught us: the degree of civilization can be measured by how civilized people treat less civilized people. And I have never forgotten this wise saying.......

Heavy and heavy drama but I didn't like the crime ending, which kills a lot. Couldn't have been worse. It's a bit of a shame that the film puts so much effort into a serious adult tone about the difficult life and painful grief after the death of the son to just kill that guy as compensation . So typically American again Found this contrasting too much with the rest of the film and also undermines the psychological aspect. The acting was convincing, certainly from Tom Wilkinson, and the first hour was also great.
