Immaculate Conception plot
Hannah, a Jewish-American daughter of a US senator, and her British lover Alistair, work as environmental activists in Pakistan. They are childless and would love to have a child. They visit the eunuch shrine of Gulab Shah who has a reputation of being able to cure infertility. Although Alistair is involved in a brief love affair with a Pakistani photographer, Hanna becomes pregnant. She decides to convert to Islam.
