The early 1930s in a small village in the heart of the Italian countryside. The Vigetti family are farmers and have three children - little Edo, Sultana and Carlino, a very young man very popular with girls. In addition, there is also the Osti family, wealthy landowners who live in their house, and their three marriageable daughters - Maria, Amabile and the young and beautiful Francesca. Sisto and Rosalia Osti accept that Carlino will court their daughters in the hope that at least one of them will marry him.
