Il Papà di Giovanna plot
Bologna, 1938. Michele Casali has a serious problem. His only daughter, Giovanna, killed her best friend in a fit of jealousy. She is still an adolescent so is declared non-responsible and sent to a psychiatric institution. During that period, which she spends in almost complete seclusion, her father is the only one who takes care of her. This strengthens the father-daughter bond, which was already strong and where the mother Delia was kept out, even more. Sergio, police inspector and good friend of Michele, witnesses the terrible events. He is also secretly in love with Delia. Much later, during the winter of 1953 as Bologna recovers from the horrors of war, Delia's and Giovanna's eyes meet in the darkness of a small cinema. Giovanna is doing much better and is still accompanied by her concerned father. For Delia, one thing is now certain: this is the beginning of a new life, together this time.
