Tony Malatini is a puppeteer at the Theater des Marionettes in Paris who attracts few audiences. He goes to take a look at his competitor on the corner to see how he is doing. There he sees that he is using a dancer in his show. Tony becomes obsessed with this singer, Suzanne, and wants to make a doll based on her.
