The Danube Monarchy at the Turn of the Century. Street prostitution is prohibited. That's why children recruit customers for the brothels. Marie is a young prostitute who works in such a brothel. She receives clients from all walks of life, often with strange wishes. Like a count who wants her to act like a child. Later she runs into this customer with his daughter. The girl seems terrified of her father. Marie suspects him of abusing the child. She cares about the girl's fate and that of other children, who often live in degrading conditions.
