Hong Shi Zi plot

In 1949 the communists conquered almost all of mainland China. Refugees and Kuomintang soldiers arrive at Keelung Harbor in Taiwan. A general of the Kuomintang must return in a last hope of regaining territory from the Communists. His children stay behind with their grandmother, playing and trying to pass the time as best they can.
