No beautiful woman is safe from wealthy plantation owner Wade Hunnicutt, something that bothers his wife Hannah. However, Wade wants to maintain the idea that he has a good marriage and promises Hannah that he will not interfere in the education of their son Theron, provided she stays with him and pretends to be a happy woman. Hannah agrees, but when Wade finds out after 17 years that his son has been raised as a wimp who is being fooled by everyone, he decides to turn Theron into a tough man with his assistant Rafe.
