Heimkehr plot
The two German prisoners of war Karl and Richard had to work for two years on a ferry in Siberia as part of their captivity during the First World War. Distraught as they are, they decide to attempt an escape together. When Richard is soon arrested, Karl decides to continue his journey and visit Richard's wife.
