Glomdalsbruden plot
When Tore takes over the derelict family farm, he wants to make it as prosperous as Glomgården's large farm across the river. There lives the beautiful Berit whom he loves. But her father promised her to the rich Gjermund. As her marriage to Gjermund draws closer, Berit runs away and seeks refuge with Tore and his parents. She becomes seriously ill, but she recovers miraculously. She asks, and gets, her father's permission to marry Tore. However, the jealous Gjermund is determined to thwart their marriage.
