Girl on Approval plot

The couple Anne and John Howland decide to take in the 14-year-old Sheila on a trial basis to replace their deceased daughter. However, the management of the orphanage has made it clear to them in advance that Sheila is a girl with a backpack full of problems and that they should not expect miracles right away. After all, things have gone wrong many times with other foster parents. Nevertheless, they take on the challenge, but it soon becomes clear how difficult their task will be to gain the trust of the young girl.
