The masterpiece of Gus van Sant, fantastic film with long shots, slow tempo and soundtrack with music by Arvo Pärt. Meanwhile we also think of Berend Botje, Antonioni, Tarr, Tarkovsky, Lawrence of Arabia and trip along in this hell trip.

Fantastic images, masterpiece!

It's been quite some time since I've seen and seen this movie and I had pretty high expectations for the story and cast (especially because of Matt Damon). But to be honest, this is quite a long-winded and quite boring film in which there is not much spoken. Visually it still looks beautiful because of the beautiful landscapes.

After the somewhat disappointing Elephant, I liked this Van Sant.

Very nice experiment this film and indeed a real experience. Occasional beautiful parts, such as the opening scene and the transition from day to night at some point in the film. Gerry is full of those kinds of scenes, scenes to dream away with and where you just have to let yourself be carried away by the stream of images. However, I didn't always think those elongated shots really had any added value, sometimes if you're literally just looking at a close-up of some faces for 5 to 10 minutes, for example, I craved a little bit of speed. Fortunately, things like that are compensated by certain longshots (sunrise) that are again magnificent.

Soundtrack is often absent, which actually does the film well, but at certain moments such as in the beginning, for example, Pärt's music is handled very nicely.

Very nice movie. He just didn't overwhelm, but he did have a pleasant experience with this Gerry. Small 4.0*.
