Fools of Fortune plot

The confusing fortunes of an Anglo-Irish family after World War I. The father and two girls are killed in a violent attack on their house by the soldiers who have to quell the Irish revolt. The mother (Julie Christie) becomes addicted to alcohol and her son Willie (Iain Glen) has a relationship with his English niece Marianne (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), which ends in nothing.
