Flickan i Frack plot
Count Ludwig von Battwhyl and fellow student Katja Kock have both passed their final exams. Ludwig plans a gala evening, but Katja only has old, worn dresses. She asks her father, a failed inventor, for money, but he refuses to help. She secretly decides to wear her brother's tuxedo, causing a commotion on the festive evening. The entire community, led by widow Hyltenius, is outraged. She flees with Ludwig to his estate.
