Taggart (Ryan O'Neal) is a gambling-obsessed sports reporter. When he gets deeper and deeper into debt, he tries to solve it by borrowing money from shady characters. His wife has already run away from him because of gambling, but he tries to make his big hit together with Charley (Giancarlo Giannini).
