Russia, 1905. Eighteen-year-old Alexandre has failed his final exams. As punishment, he has to spend the summer holidays with his father, Count Ivan Petrov, at the country house in Crimea. That is not such a punishment, because Aunt Héléna also comes with her two beautiful daughters Katia and Natacha. Alexandre is secretly in love with his cousin Katia, but is dismayed to hear that she is getting engaged to Nicolai. After a while, Alexandre understands that the marriage was arranged by his father, who has been Katia's lover for three years.
