Edge of Hell plot
"A half world of dark alleys and back streets... the side of the city they called..."
The beggar Valentine and his acting dog Flip have a hard time surviving on the street. Valentine is invited to perform on rich man's son Jim's birthday. Jim's parents offer Valentine $500 for his beloved dog Flip, but he refuses and goes back to begging on the street. After some time, Valentine is so impoverished that he sells the dog for $20.
