One of the nicest from his generation. Beginning is immediately an eye-catcher. The first person perspective, although clumsy, are style choices that I can appreciate. There are even more (short) sequences that seem quite playful. In addition, the Jekyll and Hyde story comes out well here, while I have the feeling with most (usually 30's Universal) stories that they could clearly be improved in later adaptations. And March is completely in his element with his Hyde make-up on. Nice freaky character.

a bit rawer than the 42 version, but of course it is not real horror by modern standards, I don't really prefer either of the 2 versions, they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Tracy was convincing in his manipulation of his victim, in this version that aspect is less convincing.

A film and therefore also its alter ego characters have always captured the imagination. Various productions were made of it. The interest of science, religion and philosophy has also always been great in the balance between good and evil. You also notice in the context of 1887 - a year before Jack The Ripper struck in that same London - that the moral and resistance of Jekyll's experiments is great.

Still an eventful version of 1931 with its erotic charge, although that is quite limited by today's standards.

The acting may be a bit theatrical, but it is well acted. Hyde especially looks scarier than the one from 1941. Well, scary, uglier anyway. In any case, more than a decent film.
