Donne e Briganti plot

A farmer discovers that his stepsister is an illegitimate daughter of the King of Naples and that she receives a hefty dowry at marriage. However, the girl is in love with a childhood friend who, as Fra Diavolo, has become a hero in the resistance against the French invasion. The farmer tries to kill his rival and pretend to be the real Fra Diavolo to the king.
