Dolls Can't Cry plot

"Just close your eyes and believe"

Faith is trapped in her own dream world. She dreams of the day she can be a real mother to her daughter Nell, whom she left seven years ago. But the time is up. Her sister Eris can no longer keep the child with her. Her boyfriend Mance doesn't want to be the father of a child conceived as a result of Faith's rape. The girl will be adopted by other people. Desperate to keep her dream, Faith takes her daughter to her fantasy world, where bad things never happen. But Faith can't keep shutting out reality. Nell wants a real mother. Mance thinks she's going crazy. And Eris thinks it's all Faith's play. But when her fantasy world reveals itself as a thin veil covering the horrors of her past, Faith must face her pain, or she will be condemned to a lifetime of shame.
