Die Hebamme plot
After her mother's death, Gesa moves to Marburg to train as a midwife. But after being rejected by the urban midwife Elgin Gottschalk, she is apprenticed to Professor Kilian's maternity hospital, who uses unmarried pregnant women as subjects of study and has the students perform their tasks in inhumane conditions.
