Inge Herold is in her mid-thirties, divorced and lives with her fifteen-year-old son. She works as a psychologist and social worker and has an affair with a married man. From one moment to the next she is told that she has breast cancer and that she has to have surgery the next day. This puts her under enormous pressure and forces her to take a closer look at her life.
