Der Tod des Empedokles oder: Wenn Dann der Erde Grün von Neuem Euch Erglänzt plot
In the Sicilian forests, the exiled Empedokles argues with his most loyal follower, an enemy priest and civilians who hesitate between the two positions. Nature and reason are discussed, but also the implications of Empedokles' blasphemy. From all the pleas to him, the wise man then draws a striking conclusion.
