Delitto d'Amore plot

Two factory workers in Milan fall in love despite their differences. Nullo Branzi is a communist from the North (Lombardy), Carmela Santoro a Catholic from the South (Sicily). They share the same political ideas, but when they go home to their families it turns out that they belong to separate worlds. Inadequate safety measures at the Carmela factory then lead to gas poisoning.
