Das Zweite Gleis plot

East Germany, early 1960s. At a railway yard, an attempted theft takes place in a freight car. The supervisor Brock recognizes one of the thieves. But instead of reporting the thieves, Brock asks for a transfer, because of his daughter Vera. Runge, one of the thieves, has his henchmen track down Vera to confront her about her father's past during World War II. As a Nazi, Brock has made false statements about Runge's mother's death. The more Vera and her boyfriend Frank's investigation progresses, the more incriminating facts about her father come to light. Will Brock eventually break his silence to save his family's trust in him and the relationship between father and daughter?
