Dangerous Money plot
There is a dispute over ownership of some valuable farmland on Long Island. Both the Clarks and the Sullivans claim these lands. Ultimately, the assignment is made to Adele, the only surviving heiress of the Clark family. Despite Adele's crush on Tom, Sheamus Sullivan's son, their love affair falters when Adele is sent away by her guardian to finish her schooling. The headmaster takes Adele to Europe, where she meets the impoverished and untrustworthy Prince Arnoldo da Pescia. When Adele has fallen in love with Prince Arnoldo, Tom travels to Europe to persuade Adele, but his mission fails. Shortly after her marriage to the prince, Adele is informed by O'Hara that he has found a will that shows that Sheamus Sullivan will be assigned the Clarks' farmland.
