Contre Toute Espérance plot

How does Réjeanne end up in the police station one night, her hands covered in blood and arrested on suspicion of murder? The film describes the desperate trajectory of a woman who is haunted by fate. Réjeanne has been working as a telephone operator for over twenty years and has bought the home of their dreams in rural Quebec with her truck driver husband Gilles. But one day Gilles has a heart attack that leaves him severely disabled. Despite her full-time job, Réjeanne takes care of him as best she can.
