The film is about Paul who reluctantly works as a research assistant at a university located in a bleak Parisian suburb. Paul is a doubter. He doesn't know how to finish his studies, how to get out of his job, how to write his dissertation and especially not how to deal with women. He half-heartedly breaks up with his steady girlfriend Esther and has some casual adventures that send him rather than send them. And then there are his friends, like soul mate Nathan.
