Clara plot

Clara left her Romanian hometown, a fishing village on the Danube, to help a German family a few hundred kilometers to the west and to care for their daughter. In order to do this, she leaves her twelve-year-old son behind. Clara needs the money, but the work comes at a high price: alienation from her own son and the loss of a close bond with him while caring for someone else's child.
