Chukje plot
When famed writer Lee Jun-Sub learns that his 87-year-old mother has passed away, he rushes to his hometown with his family. While the family prepares for the farewell - a three-day ritual - the film gives a look at the difficult family structures. Jun-Sub's sister-in-law complains that she was the only person to care for Grandma, who spent the last five years of her life with dementia. The simmering conflicts heat up when Jun-Sub's niece Yong-Soon shows up unexpectedly. She ran away thirteen years earlier, took money from the family, and has not shown any sign since. Journalist Jang Hae-Lim, who has come to report on the funeral of the famous writer's mother, shows great interest in the statements of the disowned Yong-Soon.
