For her first TV movie - a remake of Fassbinder's “Die bitteren Tränen der Petra von Kant” - director Vera wants the perfect cast. But the first day of shooting is fast approaching and the numerous castings have yet to yield a suitable actress to play the lead role. Though the producer and crew grow increasingly annoyed with Vera, Gerwin is happy with the extra work while earning his living as an audition reader. He supplies the lines of dialogue to candidates from the various castings.
