Carmen lives in a gypsy community on the outskirts of Madrid. Not the first film about how lesbian love is rejected.
Beautiful, tender, natural, honest and discreet, but it still produces a shockingly dramatic scene when the father learns of the "evil" and mother and daughter fear for their lives.[/spoiler).
So actually a film about the dominance of men in society and family and the subordinate position of women. The scene in which the older women talk about their own marriage, their acquaintance, their relationship and ultimately whether they have found happiness is meaningful and witty. .
In terms of acting, the film can boast of the spontaneity, especially of the two main actresses, with which they fill the roles.
The ending is one in which the choice about the future is left to the viewer. It allows me to meditate a little more on this good film, without further ado.

The story of a young teenager who is an outsider in her gypsy family. She does not fit the picture of a submissive woman in the service of the man, but dreams of work, is going to study and, moreover, she loves women. We get to see a world full of traditions and beliefs that determine what the future will be, especially for women. Although of course not everything is black and white. A fascinating theme.
As a viewer we don't really get a handle on the two main characters. It takes me a while to get into it. But gradually it became a bit more intense. Especially towards the end when the story comes to a climax. That makes the film good. Unfortunately it will not be a top film, the acting and story are a bit too poor for that. But it's a pretty good movie.
