Born to Be Human plot
Shi-Nan is a 14-year-old boy who undergoes a metamorphosis without realizing what is going on. A doctor diagnoses 'gender developmental disorders' - he is intersex. Without consulting Shi-Nan, his parents, at the urging of the doctor, decide to accept a "gender reassignment surgery," in which Shi-Nan is renamed a girl named Shi-Lan. The family moves to a new city to start a new life, but can Shi-Lan embrace the transformation herself?
