Ao no To plot
Nineteen-year-old Toru lives with his mother, who is a masseuse. As a boy, Toru lost his sister Sayoko by falling off a rocky shore. Since then, he blames himself for this accident and torments himself with the thought that he might have saved her. Toru shuts himself up, refuses any form of social contact and is one of the nearly million Japanese young people who choose the solitary life as "hikikomori." He sleeps during the day and only comes out at night. Then he rescues a raped girl from the canal. She reminds him of her sister and gradually she becomes a link in the communication between Toru and his mother.
