Angela plot
While Mae is manic-depressive, her husband Andrew tries to maintain a normal family life for the children. He goes to church with his daughters, but does not realize that eleven-year-old Angela is very impressed by the religious symbols. She withdraws into a fantasy world and tries to help her mother with rituals. Mae does indeed seem to revive, but this does not last long and she ends up in an institution, after which the children only get worse.
