Afife Jale plot
This film is based on a true story and it takes place around 1918. Afife becomes the first Turkish Muslim woman to be included in a theater company. She performed several times under the stage name Jale, but when the authorities issued a regulation banning Muslim women from performing, the theater company fired her. Afife Jale has never been able to perform since. Within her own environment - a respected Ottoman high-clothed family - she is seen as an outcast and became addicted to morphine. She died in a nursing home at the age of 32.
