A Time to Live plot

Mary-Lou Weisman (Minnelli) and her husband Larry (DeMunn) learn that their youngest son Peter (Haim) is suffering from incurable muscular dystrophy. In the thirteen years that follow, both parents try to give Peter's life as much meaning as possible, often at their own expense, by surrounding him with love. During this process they discover a lot about themselves, their marriage, their children and the meaning of life itself.
